Our town was repopulated in 1088 by Alfonso VI and it was the moment when numerous Romanesque churches were built. A lot of them still exist and it makes Segovia, one of the Romanesque towns in Castille.

St. MILLAN CHURCH is the biggest one in the town. It is quite similar to the Cathedral in Jaca and it keeps a lot of Islamic influences.

St. JUSTO AND PASTOR CHURCH.This church is really amazing for those who love mural paintings, as it preserves the best ones in Segovia and a thirteenth century reclining Christ.

St. MARTIN CHURCH.  It is located in the city centre and that is why it became the parish church of many families related to nobility. The three-porticoed galleries are a good example of Romanesque sculpture.

St. ESTEBAN CHURCH. Its outstanding tower rises above the others from the same style.

LA VERA CRUZ CHURCH. This church is situated near the valley of Eresma river, one of the most breathtaking surroundings to appreciate the silhouette of the town. Its shape, in a polygonal plan imitating the Holy Burial Place in Jerusalem, makes it the most original church in town as well as the misteries of military orders that have been related to it in history.

Apart from all those examples of Romanesque churches, Segovia still preserves a whole neighbourhood built in civil Romanesque style, a very quiet place to discover how clergy from the Old Romanesque Cathedral lived in medieval times.
